ROSELAWN?A store clerk shot a man to death Thursday night because he said the victim was trying to rob him.

The shooting?the city's 32nd homicide this year?happened about 9:45 p.m. at Shop Rite on Reading Road. The store worker called 911 and said he shot someone who was trying to rob him.

When police arrived, they found David Billups, 40, of Forest Park, on the floor, with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead there.

Police said Billups was wearing a ski mask, black leather gloves and was armed with a handgun.
